GSDS Meeting Notes: 1/3/07

 

• Terry has notes for the trustees meeting in November 2006. Will get to Mush when he’s done.

 

• Twin State Dental Health Foundation- Created by Tom and his lawyer (Dan Connolly), can accept donations from both NH and VT, can help us specifically in the Upper Valley, can get some tax free dollars donated by businesses. NH Foundation helped Tom’s lawyer a lot, took the format that the NH Foundation has; first idea Tom has for TSDHF is “Stepping Stones”, for preventive tx for kids- only got 6 volunteers of dental auxiliaries. Would use the Red Logan facility for the tx (Red Logan doesn’t take kids). Didn’t really happen, on hold, need to create enthusiasm. We have a pretty apathetic community. Example: Prescyle (?), Maine, REALLY needs help; in terms of the GSDS, the response is “languishing and defunct”, so we could go to the North Country and help there. Perhaps a more global effort is in order.

 

• Website: Minutes are up. Good way to spread info, not currently being used. Tom’s going to spend a week or so getting emails of everyone in the GSDS- then we can send mass emails and refer people to the website to get more information (and hopefully more involvement).

 

• Tom/Patty will call NHDS to see if there is an email list

 

• Ideas for stuff on website: New Dentist Link, Associate Positions, Radiation

 

• Calendar: Wilmot Lecture Series, state dental CE meetings, two state meetings, ADA annual meeting, Yankee.

 

• Let’s get a list of topics together that would be interesting to talk about, then we can email them and tell them to show up and discuss, pizza and beer

 

• Forum Topics:
• How do you find good staff? Employees at will?

 

• Could we expand our membership to include Vermont counties? Could we have more of a study club?
